Rubber Stoppers, Dani Hurst Block 1

Rubber stoppers are used to plug flasks and test tubes to prevent liquids from escaping and contaminants from entering when completing a lab. When using chemicals with a high volatility, choose a stopper with holes in the top so the gases can escape to prevent pressure build up.

Test Tube Rack, Billy F. 3rd block

A Test Tube Holder/Rack is used in a laboratory and it is used to hold/support test tubes containing chemicals waiting for futher operations.

Wire Gauze Olivia Laskaris Block 1

Wire Gauze is something you place over a flame such as on a bunsen burner to evenly distribute the flame to whatever you are heating. (beaker etc.)

Bunsen Burner, Lee Thompson, Block 3

Use - A Bunsen burner is a device used in scientific laboratories for heating, sterilization, and many other uses.
The device safely burns a continuous stream of a flammable gas such as natural gas (which is principally methane) or a liquefied petroleum gas such as propane, butane, or a mixture of both.

Spot Plate, Jacob Stephens, Block 1

Spot plates are plates made with small depressions or wells built into them.  They are used to observe and perform reactions between very small amounts of chemicals.  They are usually made from porcelain, plastic, or glass.

Ring Stand: by Kamilia Fahmy

The Ring Stand is an important tool to chemists because its what they use to hold chemicals in their experiments. Ring Stands can hold heated test tubes, beakers, and all different kinds of glassware during an experimental procedure.

Test Tubes By: Brandon Sykes Block 3

Test tubes are widely used by chemists all around the world.  They are used to mix, hold, or heat small quantitiesof solid or liquid chemicals.  The round bottom and straight sides minimize mass loss when pouring, easier to clean, and allows for convenient monitoring of contents.

Weigh Boat, Autumn McGowan, Block 1

A weigh boat is an object that is used in a lab to protect your balance from any object you want to weigh.

shauna lafferty,block 1

Watch Glass: is used in chemistry as a surface to evaporate a liquid, to hold solids while being weighed, or as a cover for a beaker. it does not however completly seal off the beaker so gases can still enter/leave the beaker.
When used as an evaporation surface, a watch glass allows a closer look at  the precipitates or crystallisations, and can be placed on differnt color as the matter being looked at  to improve the visibility overall.

Christian Lewis-Spatula-Correct blog-block 3

Spatulas in the lab are typically used to move corrosive solid chemicals from one place to another without having to come into contact with the skin.

Platform Balance/Triple Beam Balance, Chloe Beiler, Block 1

The Platform Balance/Triple Beam Balance is a type of balance used to determine the mass of an object. A reading can be taken when an object is placed on the pan, and then measured by moving the weights on the three beams to balance.

Clay Triangle, Savannah Lorah, Block 1

A clay triangle, is three sets of two wires with the ends twisted to form a triangle. Clay rods are placed on the wires before they meet to form an open-centered triangle rimmed with flame resistant material. This allows direct contact of the open flame to a crucible.
(A container that can withstand temperatures high enough to melt or alter its contents.)

Thermometer Josh Jarmoski Block 1

A thermometer is used to measure the temperature of an object.  It is generally measured in degrees Fahrenheit or degrees Celsius.

Scoopula, Ben Dieffenbach, Block 1

The Scoopula is used to easily get powder or solid chemicals out of a jar for weighing or transfering to flasks or beakers. They are normally made out of metal.

Clamps, Olivia Carroll, 4

There are many types of clamps but the purpose is the same. they are used to grip tubes and flasks. you have to first tighten on end to a metal rod or table oro anything sturdy. then you use the other side to tightn around the flask or tube so it stays in place while you are doing your experiment.

Tweezers - Jessica Hart

Tweezers are used to pick up small objects or particles.

Crucible & Cover, Steven Holbrook, Block 4

The crucible and cover is a white porcelain cup that is used for heating samples to high temperatures and often used for impurity tests.

wash bottle, Kyle Arthur block 1.

Wash bottle or distilled water bottle.
a bottle filled with distilled water, acetone, methanol, hexanes, or soap. the bottle is used to gently rinse lab equipment.
